The main objectives of the “Teaching / Learning Factory” concepts are to modernize the teaching processes and bring them close to the industry providing young engineers with “hands-on-experience”. The Teaching / Learning Factory approach will help filling-in the skills gap and addressing the increasing demand for highly-skilled employees through the development of problem solving competences based on real industrial cases through two-way knowledge transfer between academia and industry. New advanced methods for blended learning, e.g. e-teaching and e-learning supported by the Internet of Things and other advanced ICT mechanisms, can support the efficient integration of education, research and innovation.
